Apart from the standard Army/Navy model, a design that dates from before the First World War, I have made a beautiful sounding instrument loosely based on the outline of a Tacoma mandolin. My tribute to a great manufacturer of novel and outstanding instruments.
I made this one with a wider and deeper body, and an "A" shaped asymetrical bracing which gave this instrument a full booming sound. The latest is an Army /Navy model, number006, with a neat solid oak rosette, looks fine and a slight twist on the usual headstock configuration, hope you like it?
The one in the foreground is a mainly oak bodied mandolin, with a broad Indian Rosewood back strip. This instrument will have an oak neck with IR headstock veneer. |
